Master Electrician

Job Description

The basic function of the Master Electrician is to provide assistance to the Director of Operations all electrical operations. Ensure that all related operation functions are adequately covered on an ongoing basis. Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes. With direction from the Director of Operations, this individual assembles, installs, tests and maintains electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. This individual will build Motor Control Panels, design and draw schematics and electrical prints and program PLC. Some travel may be required to ensure successful startup of conveyor system. Will diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and had tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. Connects wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. Will inspect electrical systems, equipment, and component to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. Advise Director of Operations on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system. Maintain current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations. Plan layout installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes. Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes. Must be willing to travel to job sites for dismantles, installations and pre-trips. Must be detail oriented.

Required Skills

Must have the resolve to attain goals and objectives of the company. This individual should have a background and experience in all facets of installing, maintaining and repairing of electrical wiring and equipment, building of MCP, schematics and programming. This position requires self-starting individual who can concentrate on detail. It is essential the Master Electrician possess strong interpersonal skills and strong customer relations skills. Must be able to produce and promote quality work and a safe working environment. Must have excellent communication - telephone and writing skills, computer literate - knowledge of drawing software, spreadsheets and word processing and be able to exercise a great deal of patience in dealing with clients, other company employees, vendors and outside professionals. Education: Vocational school training and three (3) to four (4) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience: A minimum of two years (2) experience as a Master Electrician in a related business.
